Traveling exhibition

From January 12 to March 12, the traveling exhibition for the 39th German Student Union poster competition will be on display in the University campus dining hall (Mensa) of the Studierendenwerk Bremen. Three of the 29 posters selected for the traveling exhibition were created by female students from Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences. Merle von Forstner won 3rd place and €1,000 in prize money for her work "Vision".

"Studying changes, not voluntarily, but as a result of the consequences of human action. When we talk about the future of universities today, we think of digitalization, AI and innovation. However, the biggest challenge has already begun. The climate crisis is no longer a distant threat. Rising sea levels and extreme weather events are developments that will fundamentally change the way we study. What still seems like an absurd vision of the future today could soon be part of our everyday lives. The question is therefore no longer whether our studies will change, but how and under what conditions we will still be able to study in the future. With my poster, I want to show this future in an exaggerated but possible way and encourage reflection and foresight," says third-placed Merle von Forstner about her work.

A total of 745 posters were submitted by 388 graphics and design students from 37 universities. An expert jury selected the three best works and awarded prize money of 10,000 euros. The competition is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.

"We are delighted with this success for the students and Prof. Nicole Slink, who supervised them. This is the fourth time in a row that students from Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences have been selected for the traveling exhibition. It's great to have achieved 3rd place in the competition and to have two more works selected for the traveling exhibition! The creativity of the students in Bremerhaven is inspiring and the renewed success is very impressive," says Hauke Kieschnick, Managing Director of Studierendenwerk Bremen.

The German Student Union's poster competition has been held annually since 1987 and is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space. The aim of the competition is to encourage students to engage with current university policy issues, develop an attitude and visualize it.

The exhibition can be viewed in the University campus dining hall (Mensa) of the Studierendenwerk Bremen on the campus of the University of Bremen from January 12 to March 12 at between 9.00 am and 2.30 pm. The works of Merle von Forstner, Milla Kirmse and Michelle O'Shea will also be exhibited separately in the Bremerhaven dining hall (Mensa).
