The lonely Frankenstein (Oscar-winner Christian Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask the brilliant scientist Dr. Euphronious (played by five-Oscar nominee Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two reanimate a murdered young woman - "the Bride" (Buckley) is born. But what unfolds next goes beyond all their expectations. Buckley, Bale and Benning are joined by Peter Sarsgaard, Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Oscar winner Penélope Cruz. Maggie Gyllenhaal directed the film from a screenplay she wrote herself. She also produced the film together with Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff as well as Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman Keren. Executive producers were Carla Raij, David Webb and Courtney Kivowitz.
